Mindset Matters When You're Writing A Book
Realizing the impact that words can have on a person's soul is one of the reasons I made the leap from being a reader to also being a writer several decades ago.
I wanted to weave stories that informed and inspired others.
But sometimes, I still love reading more than I do writing. Writing requires a bigger committment of time and energy.
It can be frustrating when the words don't flow like I want them to. I start to doubt my writing abilities, my career choice and yup, my entire existence.
But I don't stop writing.
My committment to getting it done is bigger than my doubts and frustrations.
My committment, my reason, my 'why' drives me when I don't feel like writing.
You see, a long time ago I learned that when it comes to writing and accomplishing anything in life really, it all starts and ends with the having the right mindset.
With writing a book, it starts with making a choice that no matter what, you're going to do it.
You're going to keep writing and re-writing.
You're going to tell your story no matter what.
The lizard brain that says now is not a good time, your writing sucks and no one really wants to hear what you have to say will be loud sometimes.
Othertimes, it's merely a whisper.
But when your true mind is made up, you ignore the lizard brain.
You just keep writing....
